the Ben Youssef Medersa

At the edge of the leather souk we reach the Ben Youssef Medersa: The construction of this superb Koranic school started in the 14th century, extended in the 16th century. It is one of the most beautiful jewels of Islamic architecture and has long been a model of inspiration. During four centuries it has welcomed students in various disciplines, in addition to theology and Arabic language. The 132 bedrooms, still visible today, housed the residents.
